Toolbar

1. Overview: What is the Toolbar?

The Toolbar in EPV is a feature-rich space designed to provide users with intuitive access to essential markup tools for their review process. To ensure ease of use, the Toolbar is organized into five functional groups called 'buckets' that keep related tools together.

2. Toolbar Buckets (Tool Categories)

The Toolbar is divided into five 'buckets,' each containing specific markup tools:

  • Color (integrated into the Header Panel)

  • Annotate (for text-based markups)

  • Shape (for drawing and boundary markups)

  • Calculate (for measurement and calculations)

  • Stamp & Sign (for adding stamps, signatures, and dates)

3. Key Features of Each Toolbar Bucket

A. Color (In the Header Panel)

  • Provides 20 color options for markups.

  • Default color is red unless a Discipline is selected.

  • If a Discipline is selected, the color is automatically adjusted to match the discipline’s assigned color.

B. Annotate Bucket

E. Stamp & Sign Bucket

Tools Available:

  • Stamp – Upload and place personalized stamps.

  • Signature – Add and manage digital signatures.

  • Date – Insert a date annotation directly in your PDF.

Key Behaviors:

  • Users can upload up to 10 signatures (JPEG/PNG format, max 3MB).

  • Signatures are user-tied and remain available in future sessions.

  • Stamps have no upload limit and can be freely managed.

4. Undo/Redo Functionality

  • The Undo and Redo buttons are placed at the end of the Toolbar for easy access.

  • Undo/Redo supports sequential actions like adding, editing, or deleting markups.

  • The system automatically attempts to retry any failed Undo/Redo actions.

  • Users can track changes via the History Panel, which updates in real time.

5. Calendar Feature (Date Tool in Stamp & Sign Bucket)

  • The Calendar tool allows users to place date marks on documents.

  • Today’s Date is set by default.

  • Users can modify the date after placement.

  • Date color follows the Color Palette or Discipline settings.

6. Helpful Tips for Using the Toolbar

  • Use Hover Over tooltips to quickly identify each tool.

  • Use the Color Palette to customize your markup colors — or rely on the Discipline feature for automatic color consistency.

  • When working with shared documents, Undo/Redo actions update in real-time for all collaborators.

7. Common Scenarios & Solutions

Scenario

Solution

I need to switch markup colors.

Use the Color Palette to change colors in real time.

I can’t select a color in the palette.

The Discipline feature may be active, restricting color selection. Hover over the palette to confirm.

I can’t find a markup tool.

Click the respective bucket to reveal its associated tools.

I lost my changes after exiting the document.

The Auto-Save feature ensures changes are saved, but check the Header Panel for a 'Saved' status confirmation.

I want to add a stamp/signature.

Go to the Stamp & Sign bucket and click Create Stamp or Create Signature to upload your content.
