Session Management
Overview
To enhance security and comply with SOC 2 standards, EPV includes session management features that automatically log out inactive users after 58 minutes of inactivity. This guide explains how the system handles inactivity, session extension, and data protection.
Understanding Session Timeout
If you are inactive for 58 minutes (meaning no mouse movement or keyboard shortcuts are detected), a prompt will appear asking if you'd like to extend your session.
Extending Your Session
When the inactivity timer reaches 58 minutes, you will see a pop-up message with two options:
-
**Continue Session**: Clicking this option will restart the 58-minute countdown and allow you to continue working without interruption.
-
**Log Out**: Clicking this option will log you out securely and return you to the login page.
If no action is taken within 2 minutes of the warning message appearing, the system will automatically log you out to ensure security.
Autosave Feature
To prevent data loss, EPV will automatically save your work when a session timeout occurs. This ensures that any changes you made are securely stored before being logged out.
Reauthentication for Session Extensions
If you have been idle for over an hour and wish to extend your session, EPV may prompt you to re-enter your password or complete multi-factor authentication to confirm your identity.
Using EPV in Multiple Tabs or Browsers
You can view and edit documents simultaneously in multiple tabs or browsers. Any updates made in one tab will automatically sync across all other open tabs with minimal delay (up to 2 seconds).
Session Consistency
If you log out in one tab, EPV will automatically log you out from all other open tabs or browsers. This ensures secure and consistent session management.
Returning to Your Previous Location
If you are logged out due to inactivity and then log back in, EPV will return you to the last page or document you were working on for a seamless experience.
Offline Handling
If your internet connection is lost, EPV will attempt to save your changes once connectivity is restored. If autosave fails, EPV will retry saving multiple times until successful.
