Overlay
Overview
The Overlay feature helps users understand WHAT the differences are, while the Compare feature helps users understand WHERE they are. This guide provides instructions for applying overlays, adding markups, handling alignment, and managing common user scenarios.
1. Upload & Selection
-
Users can select documents only from My Workspace and Shared with Me.
-
Users can overlay only one document over another.
When using the Overlay feature:
-
Document A (Primary Document) is shown in red ---> top left
-
Document B (Secondary Document) is shown in blue ---> bottom left
-
The overlay output appears in black wherever the content between Document A and Document B is a perfect match.
-
If the content does not match, the overlay will show red or blue, depending on which document the unique content comes from:
-
Red highlights content that exists only in Document A.
-
Blue highlights content that exists only in Document B.
-
-
Users can upload or re-upload the secondary document from EPV.
-
Overlay can be applied to: All Pages (Default) only.
2. Alignment & Positioning [Coming up]
-
Users can manually align documents post-overlay.
-
Users can adjust overlay size (larger/smaller) or move the overlay left, right, up, or down.
3. Applying Markups
-
Users can apply markups to the primary document while the overlay is active.
-
Markups placed with the overlay on are recorded in the history panel.
4. Autosave & Undo/Redo
-
The overlay feature works seamlessly with the Undo/Redo functionality.
-
Changes made to the overlay (alignment, markups, etc.) are autosaved.
5. Handling Errors
-
Users can click 'Cancel' to exit the overlay settings.
6. Exiting Overlay Mode
-
Users can click 'Exit' in the top-right corner to leave overlay mode.
-
Upon exiting, markups are retained and autosaved.
-
If autosave fails, a warning message appears.
7. Scrolling & Zoom
-
Users can scroll in the Overlay View, and both Document A and B will scroll in sync.
-
Users can also zoom in Document A or B only, and Doc A or B only will be zoomed in/ out.
