The Overlay feature helps users understand WHAT the differences are, while the Compare feature helps users understand WHERE they are. This guide provides instructions for applying overlays, adding markups, handling alignment, and managing common user scenarios.

How can I select documents for an overlay?

Users can select documents only from My Workspace and Shared with Me.

Can I overlay multiple documents at once?

No, users can overlay only one document over another.

What colors are used in the overlay?

Document A is shown in red (primary document), Document B is shown in blue (secondary document), and the overlay itself is shown in black.

Can I upload or replace the secondary document?

Yes, users can upload or re-upload the secondary document from EPV.

What pages can I apply the overlay to?

Overlay can be applied to: All Pages (Default) only.

How can I align documents in overlay mode?

Users can manually align documents post-overlay and adjust overlay size (larger/smaller) or move the overlay left, right, up, or down.

Can I apply markups while using the overlay?

Yes, users can apply markups to the primary document while the overlay is active. These markups are recorded in the history panel. Users can calibrate and use calculation tools while in overlay.

Does the overlay feature support Undo/Redo?

Yes, the overlay feature works seamlessly with the Undo/Redo functionality, and changes made to the overlay (alignment, markups, etc.) are autosaved.

What happens if my documents have different page counts or orientations?

If Document B has a different number of pages or orientation from Document A, a user can proceed with the overlay anyway.

How do I exit overlay mode?

Users can click 'Exit' in the top-right corner to leave overlay mode. Upon exiting, markups are retained and autosaved.

What happens if autosave fails when exiting overlay mode?

If autosave fails, a warning message appears advising the user to retry.

How does scrolling and zooming work in overlay mode?

Users can scroll in the Overlay View, and both Document A and B will scroll in sync. Zooming is also synchronized across the documents. Clicking and zooming in Document A or Document B only, will apply zoom to the A and B only.
